Cori’s DogHouse – Food Review
In search of some tasty Nashville, TN fare, several online searches led us to try out Cori’s DogHouse. The online reviews were far and away the best of any hot dog themed establishment for miles around. We decided to form our own opinion, and head on over to see what all the buzz was about.

The menu was extensive, somewhat surprising considering the focus was a singular item, a hot dog. The menu generally was broken down into regional persuasions. I loved this concept because it made you feel right at home, knowing that your hometown or region was represented.

I opted to go with my mind vs my heart. I went against my Buffalo, NY heritage, and chose the Cincinnati Dog instead. You can’t go wrong with a chili cheese dog, right?

The dog was served on a split, buttered and grilled bun. The dog itself also split in the middle so as to create flat contact with the grill. This technique allows the sugars in the dog to caramelize around the edges, and makes for a juicy, yet crispy skin dog. Splitting the dog also invites those hearty toppings to settle in nice and comfy without “rolling” over the round edges of the previously untouched dog.

A few bites in and I knew I was in heaven. The bun itself was dense, and more than capable of holding its own to support the large quantity of toppings above. The dog was juicy, salty and crisp. In a perfect world, I would prefer the cheese to be melted on top, but it was tasty nonetheless.

As far as the sides go, they have some fantastic french fries, and hand breaded onion rings made in house. We opted for the half and half, and were not disappointed. The onion rings had a great ratio of breading to ring, not overly greasy, and came with a delicious tangy dipping sauce.
All and all, a classic dog, side order of onions rings, and a BEER, will set you back only about $10. Very reasonable prices, high quality preparations, and a relaxed open environment.
