Moe’s Original BBQ! – Food Review!

During a visit to Willmington, NC our travels landed us at a BBQ joint called Moe’s. Several BBQ spots in the area existed, however with some of the highest Google Reviews in the area, Moe’s it was. Moe’s has several locations across the USA, which can be found here: https://www.moesoriginalbbq.com/store-locations/
“Moe’s Original Bar B Que was founded by three Alabama boys: Ben Gilbert from Athens, Mike Fernandez from Tuscaloosa, and Jeff Kennedy from Huntsville. After meeting at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, they instantly became friends and had a mutual interest in all things Southern: BBQ, blues, college football, and whisky.”

The inside of the location was quaint, chalkboard written signage, and wooden detailing around the premises. There was a fair warning that “once it’s gone for the day, it’s gone” referring to their daily allotment of BBQ available for purchase, something you wouldn’t find at your local McDonald’s, unless we’re talking about their ice cream machine of course.
I ordered myself their classic “Pulled Pork Plate” and sipped my craft beer in anticipation.

The pork was absolute fall apart tender, the sauce was tangy thin and sweet. The pickles were a nice touch to cut into the sweetness. The mac and cheese was actually fantastic, it was seasoned, unlike many mac’s i’ve eaten at other various spots. It was not overloaded with cheese, but what it lacked in dairy product, the seasoning filled in valiantly.

The crown jewel of my meal was their corn bread. I asked the waitress if my suspicions about it’s preparation were correct, they were. The cornbread was baked, sliced, doused in butter, and crisped on the flat top. This yielded a delicious texture, caramelized sweetness, and buttery middle that was to die for.
The meal was simply fantastic quality, quick and cheap. Only around $12 for everything.
9/10, would eat again.
